چکیده

Ionic liquids represent a class of highly tunable organic compounds responsible for many applications in the domain wood-based materials. It has often been emphasized that use ionic derives from their high affinity lignocellulose and good penetration ability into wood structures. This paper discusses sorption different types 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium with lateral alkyl chains, ranging ethyl to hexyl spruce beech wood, as function cation molecular mass, anion type (chloride, tetrafluoroborate, acetate), intrinsic properties (surface tension kinematic viscosity) at room temperature. All studied present relative uptake values equilibrium, 11.2% 69.7%. The bulk diffusion coefficients range 2 × 10−3 28 mm2/min, being higher longitudinal direction both wood. value 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride is only 25% lower than water, despite obvious differences viscosity surface tension, demonstrating potential industry-related (as impregnation compound carriers preservatives).

Dissolution of wood in ionic liquids.

The present paper demonstrates that both hardwoods and softwoods are readily soluble in various imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) under gentle conditions. More specifically, a variety of ionic liquids can only partially dissolve wood chips, whereas ionic liquids such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride have good solvating power for Norway spruce ...

Non-classical diffusion in ionic liquids.

In this study the diffusion coefficient of neutral and cationic ferrocenyl-derivatives have been characterised in a range of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium ionic liquids of the general form [C(n)C(1)Im](+)[X](-). The electrochemistry of ferrocene, 1-ferrocenylmethylimidazole (FcC(1)Im), 1-ferrocenylmethylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([FcC(1)C(1)Im][Tf(2)N]) and N,N,N,N-trimethylf...

Factors Affecting Wood Dissolution and Regeneration of Ionic Liquids

Three wood species, eucalyptus grandis (E. grandis), southern pine (S. pine), and Norway spruce thermomechanical pulp (N. spruce TMP) were pretreated by dissolution in the ionic liquid (IL) 1-allyl-3methylimidazolium chloride ([AMIM]Cl). The wood was regenerated from the ionic liquid in high yield and the recycling of the ionic liquid was nearly quantitative. The lignin contents and the efficie...

Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Inhibitory Binding of Alkylimidazolium Ionic Liquids to Laccase.

Water-miscible alkylimidazolium ionic liquids (ILs) are "green" co-solvents for laccase catalysis, but generally inhibit enzyme activity. Here, we present novel insights into inhibition mechanisms by a combination of enzyme kinetics analysis and molecular simulation. Alkylimidazolium cations competitively bound to the TI Cu active pocket in the laccase through hydrophobic interactions. Cations ...

Potential Applications of Ionic Liquids in Wood Related Industries

The use of ionic liquids (ILs) has provided a new platform for efficient utilization of wood. In this paper, applications of ILs in wood-related industries are reviewed. First, the dissolution of wood in ILs and its application are described. Then the ILs used for wood preservation and improvement of wood anti-electrostatic and fire-proof properties are illustrated. Finally, “green” wood proces...
